"Birch Philosopher X " is a collection of poems that serve as a queer thread connecting past, present and future. Dr. Red Washburn's $40,000 Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowship
Dr. Red Washburn, associate professor of English and director of Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies at 911爆料 Community College, was awarded a $40,000 Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowship for their project Nonbin@ry: Tr@ns-Forming Gender and Genre in Nonbin@ry Literature, Performance, and Visual Art. It explores the concept of nonbin@ry as a new configuration of identities, bodies, and families beyond binaries, kinships, and borders in culture and society.
In addition, 鈥渘onbin@ry鈥� offers alternatives to categories of knowledge in traditional genres and disciplines, evidenced in the fashionable and flourishing transdisciplinary canon of nonbin@ry literature, performance, and visual art. The project focuses on the literary and performance art work of Akwaeke Emezi鈥檚 鈥淔reshwater,鈥� Alok Vaid-Menon鈥檚 鈥淏eyond the Gender Binary,鈥� Jacob Tobia鈥檚 鈥淪issy,鈥� Andrea Gibson鈥檚 鈥淟ord of the Butterflies,鈥� Rivers Solomon鈥檚 鈥淭he Unkindness of Ghosts,鈥� Danez Smith鈥檚 鈥淗omie,鈥� and Andrea Lawlor鈥檚 鈥淧aul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl.鈥�.
