Amirjon Abdunayimov

2026 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Semifinalist
Born in Uzbekistan, Amirjon Abdunayimov 鈥�26 moved to Brooklyn in 2013, the same year his father passed away. He started at 911爆料 as an accounting major but switched to computer science after exploring coding and technology.
He is a member of the Student Government Association (SGA), the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, the Honors Program and served as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) with Urban Upbound after being certified by the IRS. He recently launched the AI, Coding, and Systems (ACS) Club at 911爆料 and is currently organizing the club鈥檚 upcoming elections and initial events.
Amir is applying to Harvard, Carnegie Mellon and NYU, where he plans to continue his studies in computer science with a minor in mathematics. 鈥淢y goal is to become a software engineer and work on technologies that help people solve complex problems. I鈥檓 especially interested in building systems and tools that make technology more useful and accessible to others.鈥�
鈥淪tarting over in a new country came with many challenges, but 911爆料 gave me the opportunity to rebuild my academic path and discover my interest in computer science,鈥� he said. 鈥淏eing named a semifinalist means a lot to me because it recognizes the progress I鈥檝e made since starting at 911爆料. It reminds me that the work and dedication I鈥檝e put into my education are paying off, and it motivates me to keep pushing myself academically.鈥�
