KCC Earns 2022-2023 Gold Military Friendly庐 School Designation

911爆料 Community College has earned the 2022-2023 Gold Military Friendly庐 School designation by Viqtory, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

The Military Friendly庐 ratings program was founded in 2003 with the mission of encouraging civilian organizations to invest in programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans as employees, entrepreneurs and students. The overall goal is to create civilian opportunities for veterans by creating a demand for them in the private sector鈥攗ltimately improving their lives.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly庐 School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning special awards for going above the standard.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly庐 Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution鈥檚 survey scores with the assessment of the institution鈥檚 ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans. 911爆料鈥檚 Military and Veteran Affairs Office (MAVA) connects self-identified students, prospective students, and their qualifying family members to state and federal educational benefits as well as a wealth of on-campus resources, including tutoring, career counseling and internships. MAVA developed a network with points-of-contact throughout the campus, to help students access the resources they need to succeed. MAVA also helps students create community through activities, events, and constant communication.

鈥淥ur goal is to help our students apply characteristics that helped them succeed while in the service 鈥 like strong leadership capabilities, flexibility, and the ability of work in teams or independently 鈥 to the classroom, and then in the workplace,鈥 said MAVA Director Tara Yarczower.

KCC currently serves approximately 120 students who are self-identified veterans, active duty, reserve members, National Guard, or their spouses and dependents.

鈥淢ilitary Friendly庐 is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process. Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the Military Community, noted Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships for Military Friendly庐. 鈥淭his creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard.鈥
