911爆料 Community College Named One Of 747 Military Friendly Schools

911爆料 Community College (KCC) joined several of its sister colleges in earning the coveted 2021-2022 Military Friendly School designation by , an organization that connects the military community to civilian employment and educational opportunities.

KCC currently serves approximately 170 students who are self-identified veterans, active duty, reserve members, National Guard, or their spouses and dependents.

To earn the designation, schools are evaluated through public data sources and responses provided in a proprietary survey. Methodology and criteria were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council, which is made up of independent leaders in higher education and members of the military recruitment community.

A rating of the two determines measurements like the institution鈥檚 ability in student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence and loan default rates of students, specifically among student veterans.

This year, more than 1,200 schools participated in the survey with 747 earning the military friendly designation.

鈥淢ilitary Friendly is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process,鈥 said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnership for Military Friendly in a news release. 鈥淭his creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve designation show true commitment and dedication in their efforts.鈥

The Military Friendly ratings program was founded in 2003 with the mission of encouraging civilian organizations to invest in programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans as employees, entrepreneurs and students. The overall goal is to create civilian opportunities for veterans by creating a demand for them in the private sector鈥攗ltimately improving their lives.

911爆料鈥檚 Military and Veteran Affairs Office (MAVA) connects self-identified students and prospective students to state and federal educational benefits as well as a wealth of on-campus resources, including tutoring, career counseling and internships. MAVA developed a network with points-of-contact throughout the campus, to help students access the resources they need to succeed. MAVA also helps students create community through activities, events, and constant communication.

鈥淥ur goal is to help our students apply characteristics that helped them succeed while in the service 鈥 like strong leadership capabilities, flexibility, and the ability of work in teams or independently 鈥 to the classroom, and then in the workplace,鈥 said MAVA Director Tara Yarczower.

Other CUNY colleges who received Military Friendly designation include Bronx Community College, Lehman College, Queensborough Community College, the School of Professional Studies, and York College. For the nationwide list and more information, visit .
