Pauline Casino Selected Employee of the Month

Employee of the Month: Pauline Casino

Pauline Casino continues to rack up praises. With approximately twelve years of employment at 911爆料 Community Collegemore than eight of which have been in the Registrar鈥檚 officePauline was chosen as the March 2021 Employee of the Month.

The Brooklyn resident is the CUNY office assistant to Registrar Michael Klein. She works with faculty and staff to provide them with information and assistance to ensure success for KCC students. What she enjoys most about her department is that it allows her to work with almost every office on campus. 鈥淚 get to assist students in a specific and unique way that other departments on 911爆料 do not have the ability to do. I work with all departments, professors, and staff.  I work with everybody, even working with the President鈥檚 office. I am like 4-1-1. I know how to lead students and staff to their next steps instead of getting the run-around,鈥 she said. Before working in the Registrar鈥檚 office, she worked in the Behavioral department as a college assistant and in the Communications/Performing Arts department. She also worked at Behavioral Sciences, and on Community Board #15.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking on the beach and taking care of her pets, particularly Rusty. When recollecting adopting Rusty, Pauline said she fell in love with the pooch while helping to take care of him at 911爆料 under the former canine program. The program used dogs to chase the seagulls off the beach, thus minimizing the bird droppings. 鈥淯nfortunately, he passed away in 2020. I had him for 14 years, and he was the best dog. It was like losing a member of the family,鈥 she said.

Pauline recalls her proudest moments at 911爆料, when she assisted students who did not believe they could succeed in college, but who were taking steps toward earning a degree. 鈥淲hen you get a smile on a student's face, that is the best thing. I love making a student happy and knowing that they do have a chance to succeed at 911爆料,鈥 she said.

The importance of integrity is shown in Pauline's work ethics. Her praises are sung by close colleagues who know her best, like Natasha Boatswain who said, 鈥淔rom the day I stepped into the Registrar鈥檚 office, your personality was always bright and uplifting. I love how our energies matched when it came to helping students and staff! You totally deserve this for everything you do for the KCC family! You absolutely deserve a raise!!!!鈥  Valarie Matta said, 鈥淵our love for the College and our students always shows!! You are the bright light during our days at the College. Wish more people would have that kind of attitude!鈥

Congratulations, Pauline on receiving KCC鈥檚 Employee of the Month Award for your continued years of service, and openness to learning and teaching what's needed to get the job done.
